You can take a copy of your material out at any time, and you can close a workspace or the whole account. Both are self-service, and both are free.

The two exports

They cover different things, and they live in different places. To export a different workspace, switch to it and ask again. The request is always pinned to the workspace you are in. If you are a member rather than an owner or admin, the workspace export is not yours to ask for — but your own personal copy always is, from your profile.

Asking for a copy

Ask, and it is built in the background. Larger accounts take a few minutes. The request moves through visible states, so you never have to guess: A finished copy stays downloadable for 7 days, then the file itself is deleted. Ask for a fresh one whenever you need it. Each export also has an allowance — two copies every 30 days by default. The page shows the allowance that applies to you, so read it there rather than from this sentence. When you have used it, the page names the date you can ask for the next one rather than failing silently.

What is in the file, and what is not

Every copy lists what it contains and what it leaves out. Anything we worked out about you, rather than received from you, is named in that list and deliberately not included. If something goes wrong part-way through, the request says which part failed and what to do — usually ask for a fresh copy.

Closing a workspace or the account

Both live under Settings → Data, and both are scheduled rather than immediate.
  • Closing a workspace removes everything made under it — content, uploads, schedules. The rest of the account is untouched.
  • Closing the account removes everything under it: every workspace, every person’s access, all of it.
Nothing is removed for 30 days. Until then the page shows how many days are left and carries one button that calls the whole thing off. Once the removal starts running it can no longer be cancelled, and the page stops offering to. To start either one you type the name of the thing you are closing, so it cannot happen by a stray click. Closing is an owner’s decision. An admin who opens the page sees the panels and is told plainly that only the account owner can do it.

What is kept anyway

Invoices, tax records and the record of which terms you accepted are kept even after a deletion runs, because the law requires them.

Get the copy first

The export and the closure share one page on purpose: “get my data out before I close this” is one thought, not two. If you are closing something, ask for the copy first and download it while the 30 days are still running.
