# Boards and Splash Pad

> Where loose work lives before it becomes a finished piece: the boards list, a board's canvas and conversation, and Splash Pad.

A **board** is where work happens before it is finished. You ask Goosy for
something, what he makes lands on a board, and you keep going from there —
comparing options, refining one, throwing the rest away. Nothing on a board has
to be good yet.

**Boards** in the side menu is every board in your workspace: what you made, the
references behind it, and the conversation that got you there.

## Finding a board

The boards list is sorted by most recently worked on. Each card shows a collage
of what is inside, the board's name, how many items it holds, and when it was
last touched. A board that contains other boards says so too.

* **Jump to a board by name** with the search box at the top right. Press
  <kbd>/</kbd> to focus it and Enter to open the first match.
* **Filter by tag** using the chips under the section heading, if you tag your
  boards.
* **Show archived** brings archived boards back into the list.
* **Load more boards** at the foot pages through the rest.

**New board** starts an empty one.

## Studio — everything you have made, by type

The second tab, **Studio**, ignores boards and shows the material itself, in
rolls: **Images**, **Clips**, **Videos** and **Documents**, each with a count.

The images roll collects every finished image automatically, with pinned ones
floating to the front; drafts stay on the boards they were made on. **Pinned
only** narrows the roll to what you have pinned. Underneath, **Recent** shows
the newest work across every board — click any of it to go back to the board it
was made on.

Studio is a way to look across your work. Boards are where you change it.

## Inside a board

Opening a board gives you two halves.

**The conversation**, down the left, is Goosy bound to this board by name. Ask
for what you want and it is built here: *"Give me 6 thumbnail options for my
next video"*, or a single image to refine, or a direction to explore. Everything
he makes lands on this board. Above the box are the settings a run uses — image
size, how many variations, whether to apply your workspace's brand, and a saved
style — each one a button you can change before you ask.

**The canvas**, on the right, holds what has been made. Every item is marked
**Draft** or **Final**, and the switch at the top of the page shows you one or
the other. Zoom in and out, or press **F** to fit everything on screen. The bar
under the canvas adds things that are not generated: a **Doc**, a set of
**Keywords**, another **Board** inside this one, or a file you **Attach**.

The header carries the rest: rename the board by clicking its name, give it
**Tags**, or **Archive** it when it is done.

## Splash Pad

**Splash Pad** is the first entry under *Create* in the side menu, and it is
where you go when you do not yet know what you are making. Once you have a
Splash Pad board, opening it takes you straight into your most recent one, so an
idea can go somewhere the moment you have it. The very first time, there is
nothing to open yet — you get a one-click start screen instead: press **Start a
Splash Pad** and you are on your board.

A Splash Pad board is an ordinary board. Anything worth keeping stays there,
gets tagged, or becomes the starting point for a piece.

## From a board to something you publish

Boards hold material. A **piece** — the thing that actually goes out on a day,
on a platform — lives on [the schedule](/work/schedule). Work usually travels
in that direction: rough it out on a board, then give the finished thing a slot.
